About BeadJewelryBlog.com

BeadJewelyBlog.com was started by me, Laura “Kay” after my success with a previous bead jewelry site, Beadboard.net. I decided to start a new blog with a name that was more reflective of what really excites me - Bead Jewelry!

I’m known as “Kay” to most of my “beady” friends and I’ve always been fascinated with jewelry and beads most of my life, but I really started thinking about creating and selling jewelry on my own when I saw some pieces that a friend made and I thought to myself, “I can do that!” At first I just made pieces to wear for myself or to give away as holiday gifts, but eventually I opened a small online store (named after my Mom, Kay) and started selling my pieces at craft shows.

While I made pieces at night, I would often take short breaks at work during the day to visit the blogs and sites of other bead jewelry artists for inspiration and help with some of my techniques. I soon found myself spending a lot of time emails filled with online “beading finds” to my friends and relatives almost every day. I’ve always been an avid reader, so I decided to try my own hand at writing about bead jewelry, so I started my own blog Beadboard.net. It didn’t really talk about my own jewelry as much as it showcased the work of others.

I found myself writing about jewelry when I was stuck on a piece of my own. I soon learned that I enjoy researching and writing about bead jewelry made by others almost as much as I enjoy designing and making my own jewelry. There’s so much great jewelry being made and beading information available now that I almost feel it’s my mission to find the best stuff and share it with the world!

With a full-time job (no, it doesn’t involve bead jewelry LOL!), an energetic toddler son that’s my pride and joy and a husband that helps me with some of the more technical parts of the website, I don’t always have the time and energy to pull out all my beading supplies and sit down for a few hours working on a jewelry. I still love to create jewelry, I love to write about beads and I love to share all my great bead jewelry finds with others!
