Beads, Jewelry and Poetry all Mix With Beadshaper Rose Klapman

Californian Rose Klapman has a unique way of mixing together beads and poetry on her Beadshaper bead jewelry website. Each month she picks a classic poem from English literature and designs a piece of lampwork, gemstone, or wire wrap jewelry around that poem! She features poems from all the great masters such as Shakespeare, Sir Walter Raleigh, John Milton and others!

After retiring from teaching Rose started pursuing artistic endeavors and found herself drawn to making lampwork beads and jewelry. She makes beads of all shapes, sizes and colors and her expertise really shows in the jewelry she then puts together. What’s amazing about Rose is that she not only creates the lampwork beads, but she then makes her own jewelry out of the beads she makes, often using her own wire working skills as well! The result is beautiful and completely handmade one of a kind glass and gemstone bead jewelry!

And if you like to string together your own bead jewelry, don’t worry, Rose sells beads on her site for others as well! Her site is actually filled with all sorts of interesting information about the history of beads and bead jewelry, lots of gallery photos of the jewelry she has for sale, a list of boutiques selling her jewelry and even some of the upcoming shows she’ll be appearing at!

Back to the poems! I originally stumbled over her poetry archive first and then found her main beaded jewelry site. Rose’s archive of past bead jewelry poems can be found at her Bead and Wire Wrap Poetry site and is particularly is fun to read through and really reminded me of how wonderful some of the “classic” poetry is.

By the way, this is the second bead jewelry blog I’ve stumbled across that mixes bead jewelry with literature. The first was the CND Jewelry Tales Blog that I wrote about a little while ago. Does anyone know of any other bead jewelry blogs that mix literature (or any artform) with beaded jewelry?
