Free Bead Jewelry Video Tutorials
Some people learn how to create beautiful bead jewelry by reading books, some take classes and learn from other bead jewelry artisans and some simply pick up some wire and beads and start experimenting on their own. There are a lot of different ways to improve your beading techniques, but one of the more popular methods combines the ease of reading books on how to make bead jewelry with advantages of watching and expert jewelry maker at work: instructional videos!
There are lots of different bead jewelry video tutorial programs you can purchase on DVD. You can actually get some pretty good deals on instructional bead jewelry DVDs at Amazon.com if you want. But if you don’t mind sitting at a computer instead of at a DVD player and television, you can also watch some darn good bead jewelry videos online… and for free!
Here are a few of the beading tutorial video sites I visit from time to time:
Brightcove Bead Jewelry Videos – Here is a whole collection of bead jewelry video tutorials covering everything from how to use bead trays, to tips on straightening nylon cord to showing you the difference in different kinds of crystal beads. Most of the videos are under two minutes, but there are some longer videos and take you through a whole project and go into a lot more depth. There are several different authors here, though a majority of the videos seem to be from two or three different authors. The video quality and sound is generally pretty good and the videos load quickly.
Fire Mountain Gems Tutorial Videos – Very professional videos, all sharp and beautiful and fast loading! These bead jewelry video tutorials are clearly filmed in a studio with professional lighting and clearly meant for television as well as computer viewing. They offer a “slow” and “fast” connection of each video, which most other video instruction sites don’t include. The really great part about these beading videos is that they are accompanied by photographs and written instructions as well. They also have a variety of jewelry tutorials from how to use different findings to how to accomplish several different beading weaves. They only have 19 videos available now, but I’m sure they’ll add more if they prove to be popular.
Bead Jewelry Videos at Expert Village – There are lots and lots of jewelry and beading videos here, though they aren’t all just about making jewelry with beads. I found the content of the videos just as good as anywhere else, though I found searching and navigating through video lists to be a little tedious because not all the videos have photos to show you what they will look like and it seemed as though I was getting a lot of duplicate entries. Their videos took a few extra seconds to load for me, but they seemed to work well. I didn’t see many close-ups, so it was sometimes hard to see any real technique being used. Expert Village has ads popping up in the middle of the videos, but the variety of beading tutorials makes it worth checking out even with the pop ups.
YouTube Bead Jewelry Videos – The queen of online videos, there are lots of bead jewelry tutorials here. There are hundreds of videos from people all over the world, all showing you various tips and techniques for making jewelry and beads. Because just about anyone can film themselves and submit their video to YouTube, the quality tends to vary widely, though if you find an author or two you like you can leave comments and view all the videos by that artist.
As you can see there are lots and lots of free bead jewelry video tutorials on the web today! Some are worth what you pay for them but some are truly great learning tools that can show you all sorts of new techniques and skills that you might not otherwise learn or experience!
