Gift Ideas for Beaders and Handmade Bead Jewelry Makers
To celebrate “Cyber Monday” I thought I’d once again put together a list of great holiday and Christmas gift ideas for all those people who make handcrafted beaded jewelry! In the past I’ve written about unique gift ideas for jewelry makers and I gave some other gift ideas for beaders. Here we go again:
Beading Magazines: There are lots of great beading magazines out there and a subscription to one always makes a welcome gift. Here are a few of the more popular magazines in case you’re not aware of them:
Bead & Button Magazine
Simply Beads Magazine
Step By Step Beads Magazine
Bead Unique Magazine
Bead Jewelry Inventory Software: If your favorite jewelry artist is looking to expand her business and really start making a professional go at beaded jewelry making, then nothing can help her more than software specially designed to manage the business side of making jewelry at home. I’ve written about what features to look for in bead and jewelry inventory software before, and I thoroughly recommend giving Bead Manager Pro a seriously look.
Bead Jewelry Books: Let’s face it, part of the fun of making jewelry is learning new techniques and being inspired by the work of others. There are lots of great bead jewelry books available online and many of them are eligible for free shipping. If you’re not a jewelry maker yourself you could spend hours looking through books trying to figure out which ones are good and which one’s aren’t. I like actually reading the reviews online and ordering books largely on what other people have said about them!
Jewelry Making Videos: If books aren’t her thing, then consider some of the great jewelry making DVDs and videos that are now available. Sometimes it just helps to watch someone go through all the motions of making a complex piece of jewelry instead of simply trying to guess what changed from one photo to the next in a book. Want to give the video gift that keeps on giving? Think about a subscription to a Monthly Jewelry Making video series! It’s an inexpensive way to learn a lot about how to make jewelry from the comfort of your own home.
Bead Jewelry E-books: Looking to give the gift of knowledge without harming the environment? Consider a bead jewelry e-book like The Complete Bead Guide or A Visual Guide To Beading Techniques. Both are popular, both come with some great free extras and both can be instantly downloaded!
Bead Jewelry Kits: Do you have a young beader on your gift list or do you have someone who just wants to get into the basics of making jewelry with beads? Consider a beading kit or two as possible gift ideas. Most kits come with instructions and all the materials you need to make one or two jewelry pieces. They’re economical and a great way to learn the introductory techniques of jewelry making!
Jewelry Making Tools: Most beginner bead jewelry artists get buy with just a few tools like a pair of pliers, wire cutters and a beadboard. That’s a good start but a full set of really nice jewelry making tools can make the art of creating jewelry so much easier and more fun. A real set of jewelry making tools is the one thing that almost no bead jeweler gets for herself but it’s also the one gift that can be appreciated every single time she sits down to make jewelry and thinks, “How did I ever get buy without these?!”
So there you go! Plenty of great gift ideas for the beaders, bead-a-holics and bead jewelry makers on your holiday gift list!
