Holiday Gifts for Bead Jewelry Artists

Like a lot of people I’ve been pretty busy with the holidays, but I thought I would help out all you non-beaders with gift ideas for us bead-a-holics!

Beadstoppers – I’ve featured these little lifesavers before, but I can’t emphasis enough how amazingly useful these are, especially to the person who is new to bead jewelry. They’re little springs which you can attach to the ends of your wire or ribbon or string when you’re making a piece of jewelry. These little springs keep the beads from falling off if you drop or bump the piece or if you just haven’t tied the ends off yet. They’re affordable and innovative and thoughtful!

Bling Bling Beaded Bracelet Kit – Got a junior bead jewelry artist in the family? Start her off with any one of a dozen great beading kits designed specially for kids. There are actually lots of different kits available for younger jewelry artists, from 5 to 15! Look around and choose one that is age appropriate.

Bead On A Wire: Making Handcrafted Wire and Beaded Jewelry – How about a best-selling bead jewelry book? This has become the bead jewelry handbook for beginners and experts a like. Everyone raves about this book and the bead jeweler in your life will surely agree!

Ewins Linear Scrapbooking Hobby Cart – 8 Drawer Tower – Office Storage – Storage is always a problem for true bead-a-holics because we just can’t stop buying more beads! If you’re looking for a “wow” gift, then this 8 drawer tower on wheels is just the thing! I have a smaller version of one of these and I’m always amazed at how useful it is to be able to wheel my beads around to whatever room I want to work at the moment, from the dining room table to the TV room to the bedroom!

Beading Magazing Subscription – Some of the best gifts you can give a beader give all year around! Beading magazine subsciption do just that! This page has a bunch of great bead jewelry magazines to choose from!

Bead Jewelry Gift Certificate – Okay, I can’t give you a link to this one. A lot of local bead stores know that beaders are hard to buy for, so they almost all offer some sort of gift certificate or gift package you can give to that special beader. One year my husband surprised me by paying for three different bead jewelry class sessions that I had been dying to take but just didn’t make the time for. He picked the days, scheduled the classes and paid for them in full. He even offered to drive me to those classes if I wanted to relax on the ride back and forth! Get creative!

Finally, here’s a fun beading gift wrap idea: use regular wrapping paper for your present, but then tie the package with a ribbon and string a bunch of beads of your liking on the ends of the ribbon. Tie knots at the end and give the present, telling that special person that they can keep the beads and make something special with them!

Happy Holidays!

And then there’s new pliers for the woman who just broke hers. Any particular brand you would recommend? My inquiring husband needs to know… ;-)

Honestly, I have two pairs of cheap pliers I picked up from an AC Moore years ago so I can’t even begin to make any recommendations. I’m not even sure what brand they are, so I can’t recommend them. My husband bought be a really nice looking set of tools about a year ago but I always seem to go back to these cheap pliers for about 90% of my work!
