Wire Jewelry Made Easy – with WigJig
I’ll be the very first to admit that I’m not very good at making “wire” based jewelry. Most of my jewelry is beads strung on wire or earring hooks. The most complex wire manipulation I have accomplished is simply twirling tight the end of a few bead earrings just to keep the beads in place.
I understand what I’m supposed to do, but I always have a hard time getting my wire twists and turns to be consistent and pleasing to the eye.
But then I stumbled across the WigJig site which has an ingenious way of helping you make all sorts of intricate wire beaded jewelry designs. Basically, they sell all sorts of “jigs” which are boards with specially designed patterns of pegs you can aligned on them to help you wrap your wire in the correct angles and ways. There are all sorts of jigs for all sorts of preferences and needs. It’s really pretty amazing.
Not only do they sell the jigs and parts, but they also sell all sorts of jewelry tools, findings, supplies and accessories. They even have a WigJig University that gives you lots of impressive information about how to make some of their amazing designs and eye-catchingly unique pieces. You could easily spend days and days reading through all their tutorials and sample jewelry ideas!
